The 9th African Vocational Skills Challenge opens
On August 27th, the Africa Tech Challenge Season IX (ATC), which was supported by equipment provided by Shandong Dolang Technology Equipment Co. opened in Beijing.Hyacinthe ONDOA, cultural commissioner of the Embassy of the Republic of Cameroon in China, and An Yan, deputy secretary-general of the China Education Association for International Exchange, attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches. 73 contestants from seven African countries participated in the opening ceremony.
This year’s ATC, which has its first event hosted in China, features two categories, namely architectural engineering and PLC application technology. The event was supported by Shandong Dolang Technology EquipmentCo.which provided PLC technology and equipment, highly appreciated by all participants. The contestants are drawn from the Future Africa Plan, a collaborative training program between China and Africa that seeks to equip application-oriented personnel. The African Vocational Skills Challenge is part of the “Concerned about Kenya” themed events organized by the Embassy of China in Kenya and its trade department and was included in the Future Africa Plan of 2023.
The competition aims to achieve three main goals, talent development, standard construction, and capability enhancement, with a primary focus on critical professional areas. The joint training of application-oriented personnel between China and Africa, the African vocational skills certification program, and the capacity building of management personnel and teachers from African vocational colleges are s ome of the sub-projects effectively implemented. The ATC competition hopes to showcase the talent of African youth and significantly contribute to the development of Sino-African relations. The opening ceremony was solemnized by an oath witnessed by both the contestants and judges, follow ed by a symbolic ceremony of pressing the start button, signing the commencement of the ninth Africa Tech Challenge.
